Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte

Modern Immortality

Today as I went out the door
A friend of mine was coming in.
She pushed a cart filled with lush plants
And plush throw-pillow rainbow-hued.
She told me a friend who died left word
For her to choose some things
To keep as cherished memories.

The green house plants would live for years
The pillow soft would comfort her
But one more thing, my friend told me,
Will indeed outlive us both.
I have the emails that we shared.
There is new immortality
Promised us by cyber space.

Thanks to Enid for inspiration
