Exploring the poetry of everyday life

Writing 101 – Coffee and a Poetry Dance

Over a cup of coffee I’d love to tell you about my invitation to a poetry dance. I replied that I like to dance and I love poetry – so what is it? Cyfrin the Celtic Poet explained that first I would write a poem and post it on my blog. Then he would write a poem and link it to mine. Then I would repeat the process. It is fun to pick up bits of an idea in someone else’s poem and take it in a different direction. Our segues are fun and creative. You might enjoy taking a look at what we’ve put together so far. Poetry Dance – Alchemy

The old man sees the children play
Pungent smell of fallen leaves
Wafts from distant stretch of time
When green leaves masked crimson and gold.

His heart soars on vibrant wings
Life still surges in his veins
Savoring Springs of long ago
Joys of Autumn now twice-lived.

Poetry Dance – Transitions

Gone riotous sounds of children playing
Classroom-bound their voices muted.
Thankful sighs of harried parents
Quiet moments now reclaimed.
Old man warmed by sun’s cooling rays
Watching squirrels prepare for winter.

Poetry Dance – Trumpeting Fall

V of flying geese
Honking loud for right-of-way
Lead Autumn parade.
