Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte

Haiku: New Household Member

It arrived by mail
Sat quarantined in bathtub
Til time for debut

Cute little laptop
Took bow under son’s guidance
New passwords and such

We await tech guy
Called to transfer apps and files
From old home to new

Haiku: Back to the Future

Tuck pointers make dust
Hard at work pool guys plant trees
I found something lost

Changes at WordPress
Undid Haiku construction
I almost gave up

Haiku: Bobby’s Journeying

Your sails set just so
Edging out of the harbor
Adventures await

Your talents galore
Steer the way toward your future
What work will you choose?

Now time to linger
With family and roommates
Cook up a fine meal.

Haiku: What If It’s An Ocean

What if the river
I have stepped into anew
Is a wide ocean

And what if behind
Lies another blue ocean
Origin of me

” You cannot step into the same river twice.”

Brand New Day

I chose this theme five years ago
Inky blue sky and far away planets
Daring new steps my inauguration
Quote on “About” gave me fair warning
Step into a river and do not expect
The same current twice

My river bore me along for a while
Waves of bright memories transformed into words
Poetry sprang singing from deep hidden well
Then drought drained inspiration
I’m back where I started but oddly ahead
Brand New Day once again.

Refurbishment

To look at my present as possible past
Daunting endeavor, confusing at best
Then Aha! moment furnished direction
Live in the now! where else?

Standing in line at a ballyhooed art show
On my feet two hours at least
Energized by engagement I realized
My cane and I can go miles before rest

A present rich with much possibility
Brand new exploration if I open my eyes
Reach for new challenges from creative grab bag
Open doors not extensions of past

With curiosity checked-out travel offerings
Searching for something I had missed before
Discovered adventures focused on interests
Not only the aging seek learning in classrooms

And so next September I head for New Hampshire
To learn and to listen to sizzling Cool Jazz
Taking first step toward reimagination
Living into new perspectives on life

Haiku: Hail and Farewell

Year comes to an end
Frigid dawn yet hint of pink
Portends better things

Haiku: Islands in the Sun

Iron patio chairs
Stalwart remnants of Summer
Take on a new life

Retrieved from storage
Optimistic sun-seekers
Awaiting the Spring

Random arrangement
Solitary testament
To power of hope
