We met again in a magical moment
Forty years later
At our high school reunion
Time suddenly shrunk
To the here and now
We fell in love
For the first time together
We had each traveled that road before
Then sadly reached the end of the journey
Now everything sparkled
Snuggly close and splendid
For a while
Until gauzy distance
Seemed what we preferred
Lovely
Thanks, Lynn.
This feels so bittersweet.
Lovely poem, Ina.
Thanks, Dale. Funny but I never thought of it as bittersweet. Maybe so, but mainly I’ve moved on.
Dale, I understand your thinking this felt bittersweet. The words about “preferring a gauzy distance” to me meant an unknown future and I love surprises. No longer think of the romantic kind.
A lovely story in a poem, of time spent in love then the need to move on to other things.
Thanks, Andrea. That is precisely my meaning.
