Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte

Clearing Fog

on September 18, 2018

Clear darkness of the sky
Last night a quarter moon
Summer creatures sing a serenade

At dawn a fog rolls in
Only light the yellow beam
Shining from the hardware store

Blue water of the swimming pool
Now obscured for winter months
By tarpaulin just as blue

I welcome the change
Summer a hard and anxious time
Fear for health of son’s beloved wife

With now the worst behind
As a family they move on
Life reshaped but ever closer drawn

I return to simpler ways
Where poetry lives in daily life
And remains my nourishment

    Heartfelt words. Lovely.

  2. I’m so glad things are clearing for you. We keep waiting for that and trusting. After a year of house calamities, we now have one more…a loud bang in the wall of our 1924 built house alerted us to danger and now house is being completely rewired. But I keep breathing and trusting (amid moments of despair over the cost!!!) but it could have been worse and we could have had a fire and we’re not in a hurricane. .. There’s that.

Beautifully done, Ina. And so very happy to read that things are taking a turn for the better.
I am so ready for Autumn myself…

The clearing fog – there’s so much wrapped in those lines.

Happy for your son, and for you. Here’s praying that the worst is over.

Bright sunshine burns away the fog
Which curls into itself and pinches out
Warm rays of light fills life.

    Luv and peace,
    Eric

I can well imagine that this beauty you have written will speak personally to many though very much your own story . One thing is constant in our lives, the change. Thought the line ‘Life reshaped but ever closer drawn’ was so smart in the choosing of the words. Thank you.
