To make an end is to make a beginning
The end is where we start from
T.S. Eliot
Thanksgiving time three years ago
A sudden meltdown shock occurred
Within my gathered family
Exposing long forgotten faults
We could not comprehend
Or figure how to heal
Youngest son’s deep woundedness
Two years more time passed
Again we were together
As a family at the beach
Stroke affecting wife of eldest son
Diagnosed the week before
Yet still they joined in our midst
Received our help and warm embrace
Tomorrow’s Independence Day
We celebrate as family
Grateful that the youngest son
Will bring kids and his wife
Whose recent cancer surgery
Revealed chemo yet to come
Love will be given and received
I wish you the best 4th. I have to work. But it’s probably better that way. Take care my friend.
Thanks for your well wishes, Elan. I hope your 4th is OK – work and all. ❤
Thoughts are with you and your family.
Many thanks for your kind thoughts.
Thinking of you and yours.
Thank you, Bill, for your kind words.
You have really captured so succinctly just what being human and part of a family is. Well done. Thank you, may you and your family enjoy your time together. Happy Independence Day.
I’m glad you heard what I intended to say. Your comment is a good confidence builder. I am looking forward to today when we are all together.
Happy July 4th to you, too, JoHanna.
the intersections of life and family are where we experience our greatest sufferings and our greatest joys
Yes. A powerful mixed blessing. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
You have each other. You have so much. Allbest and my prayers as you all deal with these hard issues
Thanks for your prayers and good wishes. Our time together yesterday celebrating Independence Day showed how strong our family bond is. We are truly blessed.
Prayers for you family dear Ina! xx
Thank you, Lynn. My daughter-in-law who is recovering from surgery for breast cancer made it to our July 4th barbecue. The whole family came together in a lovely way to show care and support for her, my son and grandchildren. Turned out to be the best family gathering in years. ❤
That is lovely!
